Types of hybrid gearboxes

e-CVT transmissions (Toyota, Lexus, Honda Hybrid)

The e-CVT transmission operates on the basis of a planetary assembly, without a belt or chain, unlike classic CVTs. The power is distributed between the internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors, depending on the operating mode.

Common problems may include wear of internal mechanical components, failures of integrated electric motors, sensors or errors of the control unit. Repair involves advanced diagnostics, verification of electrical and mechanical parameters, calibration and post-intervention testing.

EQ-Power hybrid transmissions (Mercedes-Benz)

EQ-Power systems use conventional automatic transmissions (7G-Tronic, 9G-Tronic) in which an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid module are integrated. This configuration allows electric driving, acceleration assistance and energy recovery during braking.

Faults can occur in the hybrid clutch, mechatronics unit, cooling system, electric motor or control software. Interventions require dedicated Mercedes diagnostic equipment and compliance with safety procedures for high-voltage systems.

WARRANTY FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REPAIRS

2-year or 100,000km warranty, with the following amendments:

The 2 years are cumulative as follows: 1 year standard warranty or 100,000km and 1 additional year if the condition of performing an intermediate inspection 6 months after the internal reconditioning of the transmission is met.
The inspection is chargeable.
1 year warranty for the reconditioning of any CVT box model.
It is necessary to perform and comply with the inspection intervals according to the manufacturer’s requirements (e.g. 60,000km for the VAG range).
The car is not overloaded in operation, such as car competitions or taxi activities or driving school.
